Drought Recovery Assistance for West Virginia Farmers - 10/9/25
posted by: Jesus Nandi Roman

West Virginia farmers who are experiencing hardships due to drought conditions may be eligible to receive cost-share funding to help with farm-related drought recovery. This funding is available through the West Virginia Conservation Agency's Agricultural Enhancement Exigency Program, administered by local conservation districts. The assistance, which can cover up to a 50% cost-share reimbursement (not to exceed $500 per practice), helps farmers recover a portion of their out-of-pocket costs. Covered practices may include: Livestock Water Supply, Temporary Fencing, Cover Crop Establishment, Revegetation of Feeding Areas and Irrigation Water Supply.

As of September 18, all conservation districts in the state are eligible because every district included at least one county in the "D1" (moderate drought) or higher classification.
