Invasive Plants & Weeds Class on July 21 - 7/2/26

Join us for a FREE class on invasive plants and weeds with Gene Hovatter of Higher Knowledge Farms, LLC. He’ll walk you through how to identify common problem plants and what control methods work best. This class is great for landowners, farmers, and anyone who wants to learn more about keeping their fields and woods healthy.

We’re also glad to welcome Terry Jones of Rich Mountain Forestry, LLC. Terry will share helpful information about herbicides and how to use them safely and effectively.

The class will be held at the Tygarts Valley Conservation District office at 16346 Barbour County Hwy, Philippi, WV 26416 on Tuesday, July 21 at 6 PM.

We’ll have refreshments, so we'll need a head count for food. Please RSVP by clicking HERE, and then click “Going” on the Facebook event listing. Drought Disaster Designation - 7/10/26

Please see attached notice from USDA designating 13 WV counties as primary natural disaster areas due to recent drought, plus 12 contiguous counties that may also be eligible for assistance. This is all the information we have at this time, so please reach out to your local FSA office if you need details about the disaster designation or the loan programs. Donnie Tenney to Join WV Ag and Forestry Hall of Fame - 6/29/26

We’re excited to share some great news from the West Virginia Department of Agriculture. TVCD Board Chair Donnie Tenney will be inducted into the WV Agriculture and Forestry Hall of Fame on Saturday, July 11. This honor reflects his lifelong service to agriculture, conservation, and his community.
