West Virginia Conservation Farm Tours begin Wednesday
The West Virginia Conservation Farm of the Year State Farm Tours are slated to begin Wednesday morning, August 26, 2026.
Finalists are first considered at the district and then area levels, and are judged based on their commitment to conservation practices that protect soil, land, water and related resources.
Two groups of judges are considering finalists, who are competing for both the 2026 Traditional Farm of the Year award and the 2026 Non-Traditional Farm of the Year award. The judges consider the farmers' use of best management practices, impact on ecological systems and community-based activities.
The farms are in the Upper Ohio Conservation District and the Western Conservation District (traditional farms) and the Southern Conservation District and West Fork Conservation District (non-traditional farms).
The winning farms will be announced in October.
