GVCD Agricultural Enhancement Program FY17 Sign-ups

The Greenbrier Valley Conservation District is pleased to announce that applications for FY17 Agricultural Enhancement Program cost-share funding will be accepted June 21 through July 8, 2016.  The program practices include:

  • Exclusion fencing (water and woodland)
  • Pasture division fencing (no boundary fencing)
  • Watering system (trough and line only, must have water source already in place)
  • Lime (must have valid soil tests within last three years)
  • Woody invasive species management
  • Cover crop 

***All cost share programs are subject to available funding.

 

We are now taking appointments for AEP sign-up.  Please call to schedule an appointment at one of the following locations:

Lewisburg--USDA Service Center:                   June 21, 22, 27, and 29; July 5 and 8

Peterstown--Fire Station (tentative location:)   June 23 and July 1

Rupert-- location TBD                                      June 24

Agricultural Enhancement Program - 8/29/12

GVCD Agricultural Enhancement Program

 

The purpose of the Agricultural Enhancement Program is to increase profitability and sustainability by encourageing farm productivity through conservating soil and implementing best management practices.                                              

The GVCD now has an approved Agricultural Enhancement Program for Fiscal Year 2016!  A signup for available practices under AgEP was held September 1-15, 2015 for the following practices:

Lime, Invasive Species, Cover Crop, Fencing and Water Development.  All applicants for each practice will be ranked.  Approvals, including name and practice must be published on the district's website, as well as in a local newspaper of general circulation.   All applications taken during the signup perios are currently being ranked for approval consideration.  We regret that we can no longer accept applications for Agricultural Enhancement practices at this time.  Please check back with us for future signup opportunities as funds are available.

Greenbrier Valley Conservation District Offers Equipment & Services

 

The Greenbrier Valley Conservation District would like to remind the public that we provide equipment and services to landowners in Greenbrier, Monroe and Pocahontas Counties.  We have the following equipment available for lease:  three no-till seeders, two lime spreaders, two litter spreaders, three post drivers, a pasture aerator, a pasture drag, portable animal scales, an engine-driven portable 300-gallon sprayer and a portable mist sprayer.   Please contact the GVCD office or Equipment Coordinator, Eugene Wickline at 304-667-7096 for details.

 

The GVCD also stocks spring tiles, lids and strainers, as well as filter fabric, Watson, Roberts and Jobe float valves and replacement parts.  Please contact our office in the USDA Service Center, Lewisburg at 179 Northridge Drive, or phone us at 304-645-6173 for details.
